SPRING HOCKEY
DEVELOPMENT
Vancouver Hockey School spring programs focus on developing the complete
player. Students receive instruction on proper skating mechanics such as
striding, crossovers, quick starts, pivots, and turning techniques. Puck
skills such as stickhandling, shooting, special fakes, dekes, and
checking are built into each on-ice session.
All sessions are
instructed by either NHL skating coach
Derek Popke
or former NHL player and
current WHL coach
(Vancouver Giants)
Yogi Svejkovsky
on a rotating basis. No other program in the lower
mainland can offer your son/daughter this combination of expertise.
Students of each age
level are placed into 2 groups (blue/red) based on level of play and
skill. This allows players to develop at the correct pace rather then
hindering their development by having them "keep up" or "slow down" by
mixing skill levels.
Why morning
classes? With the growing trend of students being on spring teams,
morning sessions provide fewer conflicts with team practices/games.
Players from Richmond, Vancouver, Delta, Surrey, Cloverdale, and Langley
currently attend our before school sessions. |
